standout unusual Lambrusco producer

about dating back to 1926, and run by Alberto and Barbara Paltinieri since 1998. Located in Cristo di Sorbara, between the Secchia and the Panaro rivers. Eight different versions of Lambrusco are produced, in a range of colours from white to pink to red which sums up the confusion in trying to understand Lambrusco.

"Piria" Lambrusco di Sorbara 2023 ($18)

70% Sorbara, 30% Salamino. Frizzante style, so only lightly fizzy. A very pale pink colour. Made with tank method, and the red fruit aromas feel a little confected. Quite a bizarre wine: not sure it works.
