about Martini’s history begins with Alessandro Martini, Teofilo Sola, and Luigi Rosso in 1863 since when it’s become one of the most famous brands in the world. Perhaps most known for vermouth, an aromatised wine which became popular in Turin in the 1700s, Martini also make plenty of Asti. Since 2017, Livio Prandi has been the sparkling wine specialist. Asti Spumante NV ($30)
As with all Asti, 100% Moscato. Essentially like tasting grape juice: fruity, aromatic, and sweet, but not complex. Quality does vary according to how youthful the wine is, because a bottle that hasn’t been sold for a while loses its freshness.
