about Erpacrife are named after the four founders, Erik Dogliotti, Paolo Stella, Cristian Calatroni, and Federico Scarzello, who started the sparkling wine project in 1999 after they graduated. The first wine was released in 2003, from the 2020 vintage, just 500 bottles. Production now is ten times that, but still small. Two sparkling wines are made, a white from Erbaluce, Timorasso, Favorita, and Moscato, and a rosé from Nebbiolo. Quite unique.

Metedo Classico Rosé 2020 ($53)

100% Nebbiolo from elevation of nearly 400m. Fermented in oak barrels and aged on the lees for 24 months. Quite simply, a delicious rosé. One might expect a sparkling wine from Nebbiolo to be too tannic, but this is elegant, refined, with lovely lees complexity. Superb.
