about Enrico Serafino was a local businessman who established the winery in the 1870s, with a specialism in sparkling wine. The winery was bought in 2015, with the aim of restoring its historic reputation. Prior to that, the winery was one of seven producers which helped establish the Alta Langa DOCG in 2003 to support the sparkling wines which have been made there since the nineteenth century.

“Oudeis” 2017 ($28)

80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay, for a very elegant, classic traditional method sparkling wine. It's aged for three and a half years on the lees, for a serious, yeasty style with lean, high acid. Could easily be mistaken for champagne.

“Oudeis” 2020 ($42)

85% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay. The wine (not made every year) has gone up in price but the quality is worth it: yeasty lees aromas with high acid, great texture, red fruit aromas, and a long finish.
