standout outstanding Crémant du Jura

about Guillaume Overnoy took over his father’s winery (established in 1982) when he was just 19, in 2013. There are nearly 3ha in the village of Orbagna, plus another two and a half nearby in Beaumont and Cesancey. His winemaking approach is inspired by his great-uncle Pierre who is a local legend in the Jura region. His vines are planted at 250-350m, with Chardonnay, Savagnin, Pinot Noir, Trousseau, and Poulsard all planted—though Chardonnay dominates. His approach is patient, allowing the wines to age as long as they need to before release.

Crémant Blanc ($33)

100% Chardonnay. This is a serious example of Crémant du Jura: the base wine is aged in foudres and the wine is then aged for four years on the lees in the bottle. The result is quite a mature wine that tastes like a fine, aged white Burgundy.
