about Arnand-Raphaël Graser, a wine merchant, founded the winery in 1920, naming it “Lenoble” to celebrate Champagne’s heritage. Fourth generation, Anne Graser and her brother Antoine continued to develop the winery from the 1990s onwards before selling to the Belgian Frère-Gallienne family—Ségolène Frère-Gallienne is worth a cool $3bn.

“Intense Mag 17” NV ($50)
60% vintage and 40% magnum-aged reserve wines. 30% Chardonnay from Chouilly, 35% Pinot Noir from Bisseuil, and 35% Pinot Meunier from Damary. Dosage has 5g/l. Lovely creaminess and gentle richness from lees ageing with racy acidity. A classic example of champagne. (Tasted in a half bottle.)
